menu - week of 8 Nov

ok, i'm going to start posting menus for the week, just in case anyone wants to come for dinner (or SKIP a dinner!)...  this week, i'm late, but i'll try to do it earlier.  also this helps me plan ahead better.  i'm trying to have a routine for the week (for dominic & zoe's sake) and also trying to budget more carefully, so planning meals helps me out.  i'm in charge of dinners on mondays, tuesdays & wednesdays and sometimes we cook on a weekend too.  and if nothing else is going on, PIZZA SUNDAYS WILL BE BACK!!!  woohoo!

ok, here's this week:

MONDAY - chili with bread (monday is soup day)
TUESDAY - pizza!  (we missed it on sunday)
WEDNESDAY - chicken-n-dumplin's (one of my favorite comfort foods)

lunches will be mostly TBD, but to include: (always at noon)
- sandwiches
- quesadillas
- leftovers
- mac-n-cheese (on thursday when timothy comes over to play!)

snacks:  (10:30 and 3:30)
- fruit
- crackers & cream cheese
- fishies
- chai (some afternoons)

hope to see some of you at dinners & feel free to come for lunches or snacks!

=)

first foods

i didn't know this, had to read somewhere that papaya is the traditional first food for babies in kenya.  of course, kenya's a big place.  probably means a particular tribe.  anyhow, in addition to this little tidbit, mathias' grandmother gave her babies papaya when her milk was not enough.  and we had a lovely little papaya, so i thought the time would be perfect for zoe to try her first solid food.

well, i have super cute little video to demonstrate that she just doesn't seem to be into eating solids, but i have been having a terrible time uploading videos.  and now i just can't upload them at all.  (anyone else having this problem??)

anyhow, here's a photo:

a few days later we tried sweet potato and got the same face:

we keep trying a little bit at a time... the other day she ate a few spoons of butternut squash soup from omi and today she at a little apple sauce.  she seems to like it better if it's a piece of fruit she can suck on.

i guess i'll just keep trying!
